Hazel Seeley Farris, 79, of Interlachen died Sunday, July 21, 2002 at the Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was born in Macomb, New York, and had been a resident of Interlachen for the past 17 years, coming from Tampa. She was a life member of the Putnam County Humane Society where she had served as the volunteer manager of the thrift store. She was a member and auxiliary member of the Unit 16-17 Volunteer Fire Department in Interlachen, which she helped to build. She was an auxiliary member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No.10164 in Interlachen and was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 60 in St. Lawrence, New York. She enjoyed playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 53 years, John P. Seeley; one son, John P. "Jack" Seeley; one grandson, John David LaRock; five sisters, Elsie Tinnell, Gladys Hoiston, Doris McCormick, Eva Mallott and Julia Ellis; and seven brothers, Oran Youngs, Ollie Youngs, Oliver Youngs, Algie Youngs, Johnny Youngs, Irving Youngs and Amos Youngs.
She is survived by her husband, H.W. Farris Jr. of Interlachen; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jo Seeley of Buellton, California; four daughters and sons-in-law, Maytie "Connie" and Edward LaRock of Pearland, Texas, Carol and Phil Miller of Land-o-Lakes, Beverly and Michael Kylberg of Alvin, Texas and Vicki Dyel of Lutz; two sisters, Marian "Pat" Baker of Tampa and Selena "Rose" Trotter of Ogdensburg, New York; one step-son, Harry W. "Skeeter" Farris, III and his wife, Marlene of Keystone, West Virginia; 19 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at Masters Funeral Home of Palatka with the Rev. Rick Cabot officiating. The Hawthorne Chapter No. 52, Order of the Eastern Star will also participate. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home in Palatka from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today. Memorial gifts may be sent to Unit 16-17 Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 606, Interlachen, FL 32148.
